Correction and Retraction
Progressive Physics Journal (PPJ) is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Published articles are the final version of record and are not changed silently. When an error or problem is identified, the journal publishes the appropriate notice, following the COPE Retraction Guidelines. Every notice is free to access, has its own DOI, is registered with Crossref, and is linked to the original article in both directions.
Types of Notice
|
Notice |
When it is used |
|
Erratum |
An error introduced by the journal during editing, typesetting, or production that affects the publication record or the scientific integrity of the article. |
|
Corrigendum |
A significant error made by the authors (for example, in a figure, equation, table, data value, affiliation, or funding statement) that does not invalidate the main conclusions. |
|
Expression of Concern |
Serious concerns about an article exist, but the evidence is inconclusive or an institutional investigation is still under way. It may later be followed by a retraction or withdrawn. |
|
Retraction |
The findings are unreliable because of misconduct or serious honest error; the work is plagiarized or redundant; it uses data without authorization; it reports unethical research; or the peer review was compromised. |
|
Removal |
Used only in rare cases where the article is defamatory, infringes legal rights, is subject to a court order, or poses a serious risk if followed. The metadata remains with a note explaining the removal. |
Corrections
Authors who discover a significant error in their published article must notify the editor promptly at ppj@fmipa.unmul.ac.id and supply the correction. Minor errors that do not affect the reading or interpretation of the article (for example, spelling mistakes) do not normally warrant a correction. A correction is published in the next available issue, and the original article is updated with a link to it.
Retractions
A retraction may be requested by the authors or initiated by the editor after an assessment under the Allegations of Research Misconduct policy. Where possible, all authors are consulted and informed before publication of the notice. A retraction notice:
• states the title, authors, and DOI of the retracted article;
• gives the reason for the retraction and states who requested it;
• is objective and factual, and distinguishes misconduct from honest error.
The retracted article remains available on the journal website, but every page of the PDF is marked "RETRACTED" with a watermark, and its landing page links to the retraction notice. Retraction does not entitle authors to a refund of the article processing charge.
Withdrawal of Manuscripts Before Publication
Authors may withdraw a manuscript at any time before acceptance by sending a written request signed by all authors. Withdrawal after acceptance is permitted only for compelling reasons and requires a written explanation approved by the Editor-in-Chief. Withdrawing a manuscript in order to submit it to another journal while it is still under review at PPJ is not permitted. An article that has been published cannot be withdrawn; it can only be corrected or retracted as described above.
