Riparian forests can be defined as transitional zones between rivers or streams and adjacent terrestrial ecosystems. The aim of this study is to assess the quality of riparian forests along the Berambai River in Samarinda based on the QBR index and the Naturalness index. The research was divided into three distinct zones based on differences in vegetation and topography. In each zone, qualitative data collection was conducted, and the results were compared using the QBR index and the Naturalness index. The results for the QBR index in zones 1, 2, and 3 showed an average value of 81.1, while the average value for the Naturalness index was 7.76. Based on the assessment of these two indices, it can be concluded that the quality of the riparian forests along the Berambai River in Samarinda is still classified as good, despite minor disturbances such as community plantations and some areas being used as camping grounds.
