The increasing waste production in Indonesia each year highlights the need for sustainable waste management strategies. One approach that can be implemented is the pentahelix collaboration, which involves academics, businesses, communities, government, and media in creating an effective waste management system. This study aims to examine the contributions of these five actors in waste management based on the pentahelix collaboration model. A mini-review method was employed to analyze various literatures related to multi-stakeholder waste management collaboration. The analysis reveals that academics contribute through research and innovation; businesses through circular economy practices and investment; communities serve as the main actors in program implementation; the government functions as a regulator and facilitator; and the media supports education and information dissemination. The main challenges in implementing this strategy include low public awareness, limited resources, and lack of coordination among stakeholders. Therefore, stronger collaboration, supportive policies, and continuous innovation are needed to ensure a more inclusive and effective waste management system. The pentahelix collaboration is expected to be a comprehensive solution in supporting sustainable development and reducing the negative impacts of waste on the environment, society, and economy.
